Scotia Storm Ringette was founded in 2023 with the formation of a sole U10 team who played their first game in April of 2023. Scotia Storm Ringette was established out of a vision to create opportunities for stronger competition for young athletes by affording them to play with like-skilled players, ultimately fostering a supportive environment for growth and development. The first Scotia Storm Ringette team was formed from a woven knit of athletes from multiple local ringette associations, who came together out of a desire to achieve a common goal.
During their first season, Scotia Storm competed in nine games against out-of-province teams from New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, earning an 8-1 record and even brought home gold in their first inter-provincial tournament in PEI, securing the championship in a thrilling overtime win.
In their second year in 2024, Scotia Storm Ringette expanded to have both a U10 and U12 team, with teams travelling to Montreal, New Brunswick and PEI to compete against top-tiered teams throughout the spring, capping the year off with the U12 team winning the Montreal Ringette Challenge Championship, and our U10 team won silver at the PEI Ringette Rumble Tournament, proving that Nova Scotia can compete with top teams from across the country when we come together with a common vision.
In 2025, their third season, they added a U14 team who travelled to Montreal and became Montreal Ringette Challenge Champions in their division and won silver medals at the PEI Battle of the Bridge. Our U12A team also travelled to Montreal where they set a new standard of excellence by advancing all the way to the semi-finals in the top division. Our U10 team earned a silver medal at the PEI Ringette Rumble, making it the third year in a row that a U10 Scotia Storm team made it to the finals in that tournament.
Now entering their fourth season, they are continuing to grow with the addition of a U16 age group and are excited to see what opportunities this will bring.
Ultimately, Scotia Storm Ringette provides the opportunity for athletes from different associations to come together, work together, develop together and creates an environment where lifelong friendships can flourish through their shared love for the game of ringette.
